Hydrotherapy For Dogs

Specialising in Canine Hydrotherapy
to aid the rehabilitation process

What is Hydrotherapy For Dogs?

Hydrotherapy For Dogs is used by The CS Hydro Physio Centre in Reading, Berkshire. We use an underwater treadmill and pool as an integral part of our treatment programmes. The key benefit of using the underwater treadmill is that it enables partial weight bearing exercise in a comfortable environment. As a result, it reduces the stress on damage tissues and joints.

Hydrotherapy is a vital stepping stone to enhance the recovery and start the rehabilitation process sooner.  It is one of the best ways to facilitate a more normal walking pattern following an operation or lameness. Hydrotherapy treatment programmes can be graded and easily measured since water levels and speed can be adjusted accordingly. View our patient stories to find out more.

On-land Physiotherapy may not be possible for some canine patients, as a result Hydrotherapy can be used to enhance the recovery and start the rehabilitation process sooner. The benefits from the properties of water mean that the water-based environment enables effective treatment and rehabilitation. Such benefits include the therapeutic temperature (~27°C) increases circulation and therefore will improve healing time. Along with the buoyancy of water reduces the load through joints. And the resistance of water increases strength as muscles have to work harder.

Why is Hydrotherapy For Dogs so beneficial?
